I made it more difficult for myself by using auto battle with all the unattached units on day 1, otherwise I might have gotten a better start and finished a day or two earlier.Īll in all it feels slower than the other settlements but it is quite enjoyable. Instead you just have to delete goods buildings to get the diplomacy needed down for the next unlock before rebuilding new goods buildings. Now that the roads cost settlement currency I kept those roads safer than my military units. They somewhat successfully nerfed the strat of deleting all your roads and building single square decorations for diplomacy which I have used in both the viking and Japanese settlements and I'm actually giving them praise for that. It felt slower than the other settlements but despite being frustrated at the start, in the end it wasn't too difficult. For context I'm someone who only maybe once or twice didn't get the best reward in the viking settlements. Make it different.I went in completely blind and I'm finishing the first Egyptian settlement tomorrow with 6 days remaining, using all different units with no diamonds spent. They both have to stay while we work on the third and so on. Instead, require the first offering, whatever it is, to stay while we work on the second. The Egyptians ask for our help in producing suitable offerings to appease them. Perhaps, the Egyptian gods are angry and feeling neglected. Since it's just a puzzle, maybe it could be presented as such. I really, really hope the Egyptian settlements aren't just a re-skin of this. I can't imagine I'll ever describe it as fun but I wasn't expecting to. So far, I am finding the settlement less frustrating part of that comes from not paying any attention to the timed rewards and part from not thinking that I'm building a settlement. The Mead Hall is just one of the hoops we have to jump through in order to "solve" the puzzle. For the first Settlement the time thresholds for obtaining fragments of the Greater Runestone will now be 16 days, 19 days, and 22 days (they were previously 21, 25, and 29 days respectively). Inno describes it in those terms but it's really a puzzle with some superficial elements of settlement building. Because of the general balancing changes which intentionally make completing the Settlement faster, we're also adjusting the Time Bonus thresholds. Very little makes sense as we're NOT building a settlement. One big problem (which led to a lot of frustration) with my first settlement was that I was looking for things to make sense.
